## Is there a TreeSize for Mac?

JAM Software makes TreeSize for Windows only. The Mac apps that show a size-sorted folder tree, how to export folder sizes to a CSV, and what TreeSize costs today.

**Short answer**

Not from JAM Software: TreeSize Free 4.8.1 and TreeSize 9.9.1 are Windows only, and an App Store app called "TreeSize - Disk Usage" comes from a different developer. On a Mac, OmniDiskSweeper and WizTreeMac give you the same size-sorted tree for free, `du` exports sizes to a spreadsheet, and Bytesweep adds the cleanup TreeSize Personal and Professional are used for.

### What does TreeSize come in, and what does it cost?

[TreeSize](https://www.jam-software.com/treesize/) lists Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2019 and 2022, with older builds for older Windows. There is no macOS edition on JAM's site; its "mobile devices" support means scanning a phone from a Windows PC. Prices as JAM states them, 4 November 2026:

| Edition | Price | What it adds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| TreeSize Free 4.8.1 | €0, personal and non-commercial use only | Size-sorted tree, treemap, PDF export, filters |
| TreeSize Personal 9.9.1 | €20.40 a year, or €40 one-time | Excel, CSV and HTML export, duplicate search, undo for file operations, content search; home network only |
| TreeSize Professional 9.9.1 | €41 a year per user, subscription only | Everything above plus scheduled scans and a command line |

JAM's subscription "provides updates and support for the duration of the subscription until cancelled", and its page says the software becomes inactive after cancelling; the €40 Personal licence is the one perpetual option.

### Which Mac apps work like TreeSize?

TreeSize's core view is a folder tree you expand, with each folder's size and share of its parent, sorted biggest first. On a Mac:

- **OmniDiskSweeper** (free, macOS 11 to 26 per Omni) is the closest in feel: columns of folders, largest first, drill down by clicking. It has no chart.
- **WizTreeMac** (free for personal use, macOS 12 or later) pairs the tree list with a treemap, which is what TreeSize's own treemap tab gives you.
- **Finder** does a slow version: list view, Command-J, Calculate all sizes. [How to see folder sizes on a Mac](https://bytesweep.app/answers/see-folder-sizes-on-mac.html) has the steps.

| Tool | Runs on | Price and licence | How it deletes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TreeSize | Windows only | Free (personal use); Personal €20.40/yr or €40 once; Professional €41/yr | Yes; undo in paid editions |
| OmniDiskSweeper | macOS 11 to 26 (per Omni) | Free download (no price listed) | To the Trash; Option for permanent |
| WizTree | Windows; macOS 12+ (WizTreeMac) | Free for personal use; supporter code from $25 once | Not stated by the maker |
| GrandPerspective | macOS 14+ | Free (SourceForge) or $2.99 (App Store), GPL v2 | Yes (Trash not stated) |
| Bytesweep | macOS 14+; Windows 10 and 11; Linux | $29.99 once per computer; 3-day trial | Restore point, 7-day undo (with exceptions) |

Prices and versions read on each maker's site on 4 November 2026. Bytesweep's version is the current Mac and Windows release.

### How do I export folder sizes to a spreadsheet on a Mac?

TreeSize Personal's Excel and CSV export is the feature Mac users ask about most, and Terminal does it in one line. This writes every folder three levels down from your home folder, with its size in megabytes, to a CSV file on the Desktop, biggest first:

```
du -m -d 3 ~ 2>/dev/null | sort -rn | awk -F'\t' 'BEGIN{print "MB,Folder"} {gsub(/"/,"\"\"",$2); printf "%s,\"%s\"\n",$1,$2}' > ~/Desktop/folder-sizes.csv
```

Open it in Numbers or Excel. Change `-d 3` for more or fewer levels and `~` for another folder or a drive under `/Volumes`. Run it again next month and you can compare the two files to see what grew, which is the report TreeSize Professional schedules.

### What about TreeSize's duplicate search and undo?

Those are paid TreeSize features, and neither OmniDiskSweeper nor GrandPerspective has them. Finder has no duplicate finder at all. Bytesweep has both: its Duplicates page finds exact copies and similar photos and lets you choose the one to keep, and every cleanup goes to a restore point first, so Undo puts files back for 7 days. The exceptions are actions macOS performs itself, such as deleting local Time Machine snapshots, and Bytesweep says so before you confirm.

### Which should a TreeSize user pick?

If you used TreeSize Free to find big folders, OmniDiskSweeper or WizTreeMac will feel familiar and cost nothing. If you paid for Personal or Professional for the exports, duplicates and undo, Bytesweep is the closer match on a Mac: one scan shown as a list, map, sunburst and six other views, duplicates, cleanup with a 7-day undo, and each big Mac folder named (Xcode data, Docker's disk image, iPhone backups, cloud copies). It costs $29.99 once per computer, not a yearly fee, runs on macOS 14 or later and is free to try for 3 days. Bytesweep for Windows, from the Microsoft Store, covers the PC side under the same terms.
