## What the labels mean

Every row carries a label, so you know what you're removing before you remove it.

### The labels

On Mac

| Label | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| **Safe** | Made again by whatever needs it. Nothing is lost. |
| **Check first** | Removable, but you may notice. Have a look before you remove it. |
| **Irreplaceable** | Nothing can make this again. Keep it unless you are sure. |
| **Never removed** | ByteSweep never removes this. |

On Windows and Linux

| Label | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| **Safe** | Ticked for you. Apps make these again when they need them. |
| **Check first**| Not ticked. Open**Details** before you tick it. |

On Mac

### What Clean looks at

Safe: Leftover system files, Developer files, Temporary app files, Temporary browser files, Old logs and Temporary files. Check first: the Trash.

### What can't be put back

On Mac

- Anything removed with **Delete for good…**.
- Anything past its 7 days.

On Windows

- The Recycle Bin, font cache, old Windows components and the previous Windows installation. That last one asks you to confirm you can no longer roll back.
- Docker: unused images, stopped containers, unused volumes and the build cache.
- Traces: search, Run box and address bar history, clipboard, remembered website addresses, system logs, activity history and Office recent documents.

On Linux

- Downloaded packages, old snap versions, unused Flatpak runtimes and system crash reports.
- The old system journal. Afterwards `journalctl` and the Logs app show only the last two weeks.
- The Trash.

All of these except the Trash ask for your password.

ByteSweep names these in the confirmation before they go.
