## Privacy and what leaves your device

No account and no telemetry. Your files and their names stay on your device.

### On a computer

ByteSweep reads your disk on your computer. It goes online only for:

- Activating and checking your licence, and the trial check, which uses a one-way hash of the hardware ID.
- Update checks, and the sources the Updates page reads.
- The optional Library picture download.

### On a phone

No account, no analytics, no server. The only network use is Send to Devices, directly to your own devices.

### Send to your devices

Devices talk directly over your network, and every transfer is encrypted.

### Website

The [privacy policy](https://bytesweep.app/privacy.html) covers the website and everything above. The Ask AI box on these pages opens Claude or ChatGPT in a new tab: your question goes to them, not to us.
