## Your licence

One licence is one computer, paid once, with no account.

### Activate

1. Open Settings → **Licence**.
2. Paste your key into **Licence key**.
3. Press **Activate**.

Don't have one? **Buy a licence** opens [pricing](https://bytesweep.app/pricing.html). The key comes by email.

### Move to another computer

1. On the old computer, open Settings → **Licence**.
2. Press **Deactivate this computer** and confirm.
3. Activate the key on the new one.

Undo keeps working on the old computer.

After the trial without a licence, every page shows **Your free trial has ended**. Settings and Undo stay open.

### Offline

ByteSweep checks the licence at most once a day and works offline for 14 days. After that, cleaning pauses until the check goes through.

### Error messages

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **Licence key not found. Check for typos.** | Paste it again from your email. |
| **Activation limit reached. Deactivate another computer first.** | Deactivate the old computer. Can't reach it? Write to support. |
| **This licence key is inactive or has expired.** | Write to support. |
| **This key is for ByteSweep Server. ByteSweep needs its own licence.** | Server keys don't unlock the desktop apps. |
