Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 September 2026

These terms govern your use of the Bytesweep desktop application ("the Software") and this website. By downloading, installing or purchasing the Software you agree to them.

1. License

Bytesweep is licensed, not sold. On purchase you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on up to three (3) devices that you own or control, at the same time, on any supported operating system. You may deactivate a device to free an activation for another. Licenses are for personal or internal business use; a separate license is required per person for team use.

2. Free trial

The Software may be evaluated free of charge for 14 days from first launch. The trial includes all visualizations and a limited number of manual sweeps per day; features marked Pro require a licence key. After 14 days a valid licence key is required to continue using the Software. Refunds terminate the licence key immediately.

3. Purchases and payment

Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. Prices are shown in your local currency where available; applicable taxes are calculated at checkout. Your license key is delivered by email after payment and shown on the confirmation page. All 1.x updates are included at no additional cost. Major version upgrades may be offered at a discount.

4. Refunds

See the Refund Policy. In short: full refund within 14 days of purchase.

5. Restrictions

You may not: share, resell or publish license keys; circumvent license verification; reverse engineer the Software except where the law expressly permits; or use the Software to violate any law.

6. Your responsibility for deletions

Bytesweep helps you find and remove files. You decide what is deleted. The Software stages items in a queue for your review and moves items to the system trash by default; permanent deletion is an explicit, separately confirmed action. Always keep backups. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for data loss resulting from files you chose to remove, including files inside cloud-sync folders, system folders or files required by other software.

7. Disclaimer of warranty

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Storage figures reported by the Software may differ from those reported by your operating system due to file-system features such as compression, snapshots, hard links and purgeable space.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Software or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

9. Termination

We may revoke a license that is shared publicly, obtained fraudulently or used in breach of these terms. You may stop using the Software at any time.

10. Changes to the Software and these terms

We may update the Software and these terms. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted on this website.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the publisher of Bytesweep is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Consumers retain any non-waivable rights under the law of their country of residence.
