Bytesweep 3.2.0: Send to your devices, and your phone on the big screen
Bytesweep 3.2.0, for Windows and Mac, sends files, folders, notes and links to your phones and other computers over Wi-Fi, shows and cleans your phone from the big screen, moves you to a new computer, and adds Space Guard.
Bytesweep 3.2.0 connects ByteSweep to your other devices. Your computer, your phone and your other computers can now send each other files directly, over your own Wi-Fi, and your phone's photos can be seen and cleaned on the big screen. The phone side is Bytesweep: Clean & Transfer 1.4 for iPhone and Android.
Send to your devices
- Anything, to any of your devices. Files, whole folders, a note or a link, to an iPhone, an Android phone, or another Mac, PC or Linux computer with ByteSweep. Tick one device or several, fill the tray, and press Send once.
- Straight between devices. Everything goes directly over the same Wi-Fi, encrypted, never through a server and never through the internet. With no Wi-Fi around, a computer can join a phone's own hotspot.
- You say yes first. The first time two devices meet, both show the same six-digit code. After that, each send waits until the other side presses Accept.
- Keep or move. Send copies, or move the files and have them removed here once every device has them all. Big sends show their speed and the time left.
- From where you already are. ByteSweep is in Finder's Share menu on a Mac and in File Explorer's right-click menu on Windows.
Your phone on the big screen
- View your phone lists every photo and video on your phone and opens or plays them on the computer. Nothing is copied or kept there.
- Clean your phone goes through the phone's duplicates, similar shots, big videos and screenshots on the big screen. The phone asks before anything is shown, and deletes only after its own confirmation.
Move to a new Mac or PC
- A page that walks you through it: clean first, choose the folders that matter, and send them to the new computer over Wi-Fi.
Space Guard
- Turn it on in Settings and ByteSweep keeps the disk from filling up while it runs. When free space drops under your limit (10 GB unless you change it), it cleans the safe part, tells you, and keeps an Undo for a day.
Check-up
- Do I need a new Mac or PC? Answered for space: how long until the disk is full at the rate it is growing, and how much longer a clean would buy you.
- Your year with ByteSweep: a picture of your year with ByteSweep, to save and share.
Also new
- The Library's search also finds files on drives you have catalogued, archived ones too, even when the drive is not plugged in.
- The menu bar and notch on a Mac, and the tray panel and top bar on Windows, show one Overview as tiles or a list, with the sections you choose.
- Select all and Deselect all wherever items can be ticked.
- Windows: the top panel opens from the screen's top edge even while a maximised browser or File Explorer covers it, and slow readings no longer hold up the window.
